Bible Study is continuing on Tuesday nights, from 7 to 9, in my office. August’s schedule is as follows: August 5 – Luke 16; August 12 – no meeting; August 19 – Luke 17; August 26 – Luke 18
I’ve discovered recently at the class on Polity and History of the Disciples of Christ/Christian Church that the scriptures are the central foundation of our faith. Other denominations at the time we were founded, had developed volumes and volumes of dialogues about their church, published interpretations of scriptures, and lengthy creeds to define what their members were to believe. We Disciples have always believed that each of us, by asking for God’s guidance and blessing, is capable to interpret the scriptures for ourselves, that God reveals Himself to us individually, one on one, as well as together in our worship or meetings. Early Disciples eagerly read their Bibles, in groups, at every worship gathering, at home, - regularly and often. I encourage us to bring our Bibles to each and every committee or council meeting, to every gathering, remembering our heritage and demonstrating our desire for God’s Word to guide all thoughts, all decisions, all actions for each of us and for United Disciples Christian Church, every day. You are also encouraged to come join us on Tuesday evenings, in our study, to experience wonderful fellowship with your church family and with our Lord, while we grow in spirit and in truth. Hope to see you there. Pastor Carol
